@@FatalRPM Just saw your video I had some questions I didn't hear you mention if you could please answer for me: 1) What size Wiseco piston are you using 87 or 88mm? 2) Are you still using the z31 or did you also upgrade to a z32 crankshaft? Thank you! sorry for the amount of questions I am in the process of a rebuild and want to see what options I have.

@precise4163 I’m using 87.5 since I’ve had my block bored out since it was out of round a bit. Also I’m using the stock crank since I didn’t see a major advantage upgrading it since I’m staying under 700hp (forums say that I can handle over 700) and my clutch is already sorted. Granted, I wouldn’t have the issues I do with the harmonic balancer had I upgraded.

If I were to guess it was a lack of pressure in the system with a combo of the tolerance of the fitting and the oring. Seeing as how it stopped leaking after a few, that’s the conclusion I came to. I’m guessing the orings do swell a bit since it never leaked when cold after the initial leak stopped.

So I’ve been using epidemic sound for the last few years and unfortunately this was just a few months before the switch so it’s a royalty free song somewhere here in YT. I’ll try and dig through my files soon and see if I can get you a title.

I would suggest googling “JP fiber” it’s the Daytona kit. As far as what I paid, it was about 1200 but that was about 3 years ago at this point.

Miso is an 86 2+0. This kit is a supper budget kit so I wouldn’t say it has any incompatibility because regardless of the z31, you’re gonna be doing a quite a bit of body work to get it looking half decent. The only exception to that would probably be the 2+2 since the car is physically longer. I’d recommend checking out my video “Finding the issues with cheap body kits” to get a better idea of the fitment of this kit.

I wanna say everything came out to $1200. There was a bit of extra work done like rebalancing so it did cost a bit more. I will say my options are supremely limited, so if you have options then you’ll probably have better pricing.

Well, the car has been sitting for the better part of a year due to either a trans or transfer case issue. However, just about 3 years with them and it’s hasn’t leaked other than the time in the video.

So basically all new coilovers? lol Unless I’m misunderstanding the strut insert as a new strut.

Hey, yeah. I still have it, however I still haven’t printed it yet due to the build overall becoming immensely more involved after designing.

Im glad you enjoyed the video and I definitely appreciate the suggestions! Just as a quick rundown, the only things that are for the z31 are the oil pump and crank. My water pump is from a z32 (doing this caused fitment issues with the timing cover but that was nothing an angle grinder couldn’t fix. I just didn’t have any footage of “modifying” the water pump.) as is the pulley for it. The only thing getting the z32 crank would solve is the HB position. Getting a new crank wouldn’t just drop in, not to mention all the machine work that would potentially need to be done including line honing the mains. Before I’d swap the crank, I’d swap in a de/tt, which I have thought about. Seeing how my only set back is the position of the HB, I’d 100% make a spacer to set that position before basically dismantling the engine again. At least that’s my thought process. *edited to correct a typo.

That was my position on my first build! I’m on my 10th build now and maybe I should’ve given up on the vg30e years ago but I didn’t. I’m just trying to transfer the knowledge. If you want to keep your air conditioning z32 crank. Want a better clutch setup z32 crank. Want to mate a different trans z32 crank. If you want the aftermarket to support you z32 crank. I hear you with the motor swap. I personally love popping the hood and seeing onlookers faces. 😁 Good luck with your build and I will keep watching no matter what direction you take.

Oil strainer? Do you mean the pickup tube?

@mohannadalbaloshi4574 I’ll keep that in mind. When I removed it, it was already using that gasket. Unfortunately, the pickup nor the oil pump has a receiver groove for an o-ring. I may just rtv it when I remove the pan to weld in the oil drain for the turbo.

From what I remember, the overflow feed had a little play but didn't leak. The overflow drain is an absolute PIA. I'm Guessing I didn't have much of an issue with it this go around because I replaced the overflow itself.
